Comments on the Special Forum on Phonology
The series of papers that constitute the Special Forum on Phonology in the August 2002 issue of the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology (Bleile, 2002; Hodson, Scherz, & Strattman, 2002; Hoffman & Norris, 2002; Ingram & Ingram, 2002; Khan, 2002; Lof, 2002; Miccio, 2002; Tyler et al., 2002; Tyler & Tolbert, 2002; Williams, 2002a, 2002b) are particularly pertinent in light of today's managed care environment.

These articles recognize the need to control the examination time in order to be cost effective and yet obtain sufficient clinical information to develop a working diagnosis and a tentative treatment plan.
